District 9:

District 9 is a 2009 science fiction film directed by Neill Blomkamp and written by Terri Tatchell. The main actor is Sharlto Copley (Wikus van der Merwe) and there are others that are less important as David James (Koobus Venter).

SUMMARY:
The story is an adapted version of the short film called Alive in Joburg, which was also created by Blomkamp. District 9 tells the story of an alien spacecraft that sets above Johannesburg (South Africa). After moths an investigation team went to the spacecraft and they found ther4e a lot of aliens, they put them out of the spacecraft and they also settled them in the District 9, a slum neighborhood surrounded by a huge fence and this way they didn’t let the aliens interact with humans. After 20 years the MNU went to the district because they wanted to move it far of the city and they needed the signatures of the aliens. Wikus went there and something strange happened to him and he started to become an alien. The MNU wanted to kill him to investigate but he found support in an alien called Christopher and his child. After a small war Christopher and his child repaired the spacecraft and left the Earth and we don’t really know what happens to Wikus.

Talking about what we have seen in class for me, in this film we find:

-          -Racism: some people said that they don’t want the aliens there because they are from another planet and they can’t live together.
-        - It also reflects something similar to the Nazi’s holocaust. In the film you can see how the humans let the aliens die because they want to investigated with their bodies and how they negotiate with cat food (that is like a drug for the aliens) to get their weapons that is their only objective.

-          -And finally you can also see how the addiction, in this case to drugs, makes you do things that you don’t want to do.
